PATIENT STORIES

DANIEL JAMES

Daniel James is a paid athlete who sustained a non-contact injury playing rugby, with an MRI revealing a full thickness ACL tear. He was referred by a surgeon to Global Director Kieran for commencement of rehabilitation in the form of motor-control, range of motion, balance/proprioception and strengthening exercises. He commenced a graded functional program from week 1, without the use of a hinged-knee-brace.

Repeat MRI 3.5 months later revealed a healed ACL. The patient has had no episodes of instability, has a normal pivot-shift and returned to play within 6 months.

Obviously every case is unique, and outcomes can never be 100% assured, but it is excellent to hear further cases of patients having successful outcomes with physiotherapy!

ANNA SPIERS
